I knew Death by Crow so well that I didn’t see the unwritten backstory not revealed to the reader. This included clarification of the setting–which town are we in again? Carolin pin-pointed this error immediately, and of course it immediately became obvious to me. Carolin also suggested that some of the interactions between characters needed to be more in-depth. Carolin’s insights and suggestions strengthened the storyline. Because of the front-end changes, the back-end work–namely the proofreading of the formatted work went smoothly. I’m delighted with the results, as I’m sure I will be when we work together again.
The cover I designed myself for Death by Crow became history as soon as I saw Carolin’s first mock-up. Her training, resources, and creativity produced a cover that continues to generate interest and positive comments. The imagery and colours perfectly fit the mood of the novella and perfectly reflect the precarious positions of the characters.
