I liked it
The final book in the series! I can’t wait to finally get some answers! I have quite a few theories I want to know are right or wrong.

Time is running out. Cal has just 31 more days to discover and claim the Ormond Singularity before anyone else, but everyone seems to want their fingers in this pie. Oriana, Sligo, Rathbone—and now Double Trouble and Deep Water, two mysterious figures from Rathbone’s list. Cal and his friends must get to Ireland to figure it all out, but first, he and Winter must escape the steel shipping container Sligo has left them in!
I was ready to go all in for this final book of the series. I’ve never been patient, so having to wait so long for answers has been annoying but motivating at the same time. Going in, I still had some suspicions about Sharkey (solely because of his name) and Uncle Rafe (because his actions have been all over the place throughout the series). I wasn’t expecting what we learned about Cal’s mom being a part of the conspiracy, but I was expecting things to get wild in this one—and they did.
I’ve moved to a new reading chair recently, and it was so comfy that I could just settle in and read to my heart’s content.
As the final book of the series, December follows all the same structure points as the first eleven. This book, however, was the longest of them all, with over 230 pages of content! They really needed to pack everything into this last book! Like with the first book, which held a prologue from the previous month (December), this book contains an epilogue for the following month (January), which is all about what comes after the discovery of the Ormond Singularity.
So, Oriana de la Force is in jail for the kidnapping of Gabi, Sligo has discovered Winter’s deception, and Rathbone is already in Ireland going straight to the source of the Ormond Singularity. That leaves Cal, Boges, and Winter hurrying to get their own tickets to Ireland, avoid the heavy security of the airports, and discover the secret before time runs out—and they still need to clear Cal’s name!
Winter can no longer go home, so she stays with Cal for the foreseeable future. Nelson Sharkey, the only adult of the group, has been a big help, and until the very end, Cal’s uncle Rafe’s intentions continue to be confusing. Is he there to help, or there to interfere? We finally get some clarity into his and Cal’s mom’s actions at the end of this book.
I’ve settled nicely into Gabrielle Lord’s writing style, and I like the flow she uses. This book had the fewest number of technical issues that I’ve noticed so far, and the storyline gripped me more than ever—I’ve always liked getting answers more than questions. I’m weak for a good reveal.
The pacing, as always, was fast, despite the extra length of this book. It had so much packed in and so little time. One page after another brought new clues, new betrayals, and new danger.
Though there were times when I was so tempted to just look up the answers, I stuck through it, and I highly recommend you do the same! This whole series is action-packed and full of deceit and discovery! It’s perfect for the teen boy reader.
