Synopsis: Lydia Perrault, octogenarian and spinster, resides with family on their farm outside of Regina. In the fall of 2019, she takes a phone call from her great-niece, Janey, who lives in Vancouver. Janey’s friend, Rennie, believes that Lydia can explain her grandfather’s connection to Errol Flynn. Long buried memories of the tragedy that happened in The Sylvia Hotel after Lydia’s 1959 encounter with Mr. Flynn startle her into an awareness of the passage of time. She doesn’t believe she can help Rennie, but a visit to Vancouver gives her the excuse to explain her legacy to Janey. Lydia, with her brother, Mick, returns to The Sylvia to meet Janey and Rennie, and although she doesn’t admit it, to confront the ghosts of her past. When Rennie is delayed, Lydia tells Janey a story that begins in Regina in 1927 with a death, a cover-up, and a decision. This decision culminates in the 1959 tragedy in The Sylvia, and the burden of Lydia’s legacy.
Afterward, Lydia’s discovery of her misbeliefs of that tragic evening compels her to steer a new course for the remainder of her life.

This is my second project with Author Rosemary Rigsby. Yet again, she had already published this book and was reaching out for eBook conversion. The paperback version had been previously designed and formatted.
Turning this MS Word document into a sleek and professional eBook took a few hours of dedicated work. Once again, in Adobe InDesign, a Book file was created, along with the frontmatter, Table of Contents, and first chapter.
The first step was to format the Word document to figure out the pricing of the project. I set everything to the industry standard (8.5x11-inch page with a 1-inch margin; Times New Roman in size 12 font, double-spaced; no space between paragraphs), which gave me a page count. This price is added to a fee multiplied by the number of sections the eBook will contain.
Rosemary chose to once again remove images from her document before eBook conversion. Paperback copies of the book include images spaced throughout! Then, I got to work inputting the chapters and formatting the text.
Once all the chapters were input and ordered correctly, I added the Table of Contents and linked all the chapter titles. The final step was adding the metadata, which includes the title and author name, the publication information, and all keywords so that it would be easily searchable.
