This watercolour book is meant to be simple at first glance—black velvet and white thread—so when you open it, the artist’s paintings really get to shine. Even the interior paper on the cover is plain white, in case the artist would also like to sketch or doodle on them.
I chose the Japanese stab binding method because once again I did not want to fold the pages (so they could remain 12 by 9 inches). To match the simplicity I was going for, I used the four-hole pattern, the simplest of the patterns. Also, now that I’ve had a bit of practice with this stitching style, it took no time at all.
Once again, I’ve left the pages unfolded, so the artist who uses this book will need to separate the pages so they may be used properly. The cover, however, folds completely flat so it won’t be in their way.
