Another custom order! It was a fun process of choosing the best typefaces and end sheet design for this book. As always, I used Adobe InDesign for typesetting. The total page count ended up being 340, which worked out perfectly so that each of the seventeen signatures was five sheets.

I made a new French Link stitch pattern for this book, but otherwise it was the same as all other casebound books. Once stitched, I lined up the signatures, put them in the press, and reinforced the spine with glue and book cloth. From there, I glued on the end sheets and headbands, and I attached the text block into the cover which I made using black 92 lb cardstock and light brown leather.

Something new I did with this book that I haven’t done before was customizing the end sheets. Normally, I just use any of the plain or decorative papers I have in my supply, but this book needed something special, so I added the decorative bullet point from the title typeface and made a repeated pattern from it. I printed it in navy blue on the light blue paper I had. I think it tied the whole book together quite nicely, especially after adding the book’s title onto the spine with a fancy white pen.
