With this notebook, I once again tried my hand at carving an image into the leather. This time, I printed out a bigger version of the lion crest imprint in the bottom outside corners of the pages, and I think it turned out really well!
My latest standard length of notebook is 240 pages, or 60 sheets. This is exactly how many pages the journals have. It lets me use 6 signatures of 10 sheets rather than the previous pattern of 7 signatures of 10. (This is because of the more expensive writing paper I’m now using.)
The cover is dark brown leather, one I know works well for the image carving. For the spine, I used a neutral dark grey so that the inner reds pop and that the dark brown thread on the spine stands out. I also tried something new with the long stitch pattern—in the middle sections, I looped them together like a French link stitch instead of leaving them straight.
