I always knew I wanted to make a green-themed book to go with the serpent crest I designed, and this notebook perfect matches my vision.

I went with the chainstitch design, trying a variation that uses fewer signatures, which I think I’m going to stick to from now on. I like that it gives each line of stitching a bit of breathing room on the spine.

For the cover, I used a glossy, dark leather to pair with the dark green plush velvet for the front and back. The colour scheme is elegant and classy; it’s perfect for the vibe I wanted. The interior paper matches as well, a vibrant green paper that has a bit of texture. I used the white waxed thread to stitch the book, as the white stands out nicely against the dark leather; given the stitching pattern, it should be visible.

This book is also part of a bigger set, in which I’ve designed a few different crests, which will all be bound in different ways. Keep an eye out for those!
