My first experiment with the real Italian leather given to me by a family-friend, who is an upholsterer.

This book is a softcover, though the double-layer leather gives the cover a nice stiff feel, and the single-layer around the spine allows it to bend well. I chose a bright orange waxed embroidery floss to pop against the lighter grey leather. Since there is only a single signature, though a thicker one, I chose the chain stitch method as opposed to the saddle stitch method.

This pocketbook is 4.25 inches wide and 5 inches tall, and it contains 60 pages of lined quality cream Strathmore paper. It’s the perfect notebook for taking into the field, as it can perfectly slip into the pocket of your jeans or jacket.
