I had this faux leather cover leftover from a failed experiment and thought it was the perfect thing to use for this project, which is intended as a gift for a family member. The spine, unlike other casebounds I’ve done in the past, has no board, just some cardstock to reinforce the leather. The cover was also a bit undersized (exactly 8" tall) so I had to trim down the pages to 7.75 inches for a better fit. it was easy enough; all I ha to do was scale down the design.
I also needed to use a lot of paper for this book to fill the pre-existing cover, which is why this book is a hefty 400 pages of plain white copy paper (ideal for taking notes at a the risk of possible ink bleed-through). I used my custom-designed endsheets from a different project, and once again carved the Hogwarts crest into some real leather (with an awl) and attached it to the front of the book.
An overall delightful and fun project to do; I really hope the recipient falls in love with this notebook like I did while I was making it!
